My name is Jon King and I’m looking forward to working with you.

I’ll give your material the same attention that I would give one of the projects I’m producing or developing for a studio/network.

My Story

I’m an experienced development executive who has worked in the film and television industry on both the producing and management sides of the business. Way back when I was getting my film degree at Occidental College I discovered that as much as I love writing and shooting my own projects, what really got me excited was collaborating with my fellow filmmakers to improve on great ideas. Lucky for me, that kind of collaboration is what allows the film and television industry to produce the filmed and animated content that entertains and enriches us every year. As a Development Executive at Goldenring Productions I’ve worked with hundreds of writers and directors on hundreds of projects including the Humanitas Award winning RADIO REBEL and BOYCHOIR, starring Dustin Hoffman, Kathy Bates, and Debra Winger.

What exactly is a Development Executive?

Development Executives work for studios and production companies doing many of the same jobs that Producers do. That includes evaluating underlying material, taking pitches, working with writers to produce screen and teleplays, and overseeing projects through production. Though development executives rarely have their names in the credits of the projects they develop, they are an absolutely crucial part of the process of bringing an idea to the the screen or stage. They work closely with top agents and managers to find the best material to adapt for film and the writers and directors to execute. Like producers, they have to be comfortable having many projects in various stages of development and production at any one time.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with Jon King on several film projects and I can say without reservation that he’s the kind of collaborator you want—smart, always engaged in the work and making it better, offering creative solutions when problems come up. Our relationship began with Radio Rebel, which we developed together from the pitch stage through production. Jon’s sharp notes and attention to details were an invaluable part of the process, which culminated in a Humanitas Award for Best Children’s Script. He’s a pleasure to work with (and I cannot stress enough how important that is in this business), and I look forward to our next project together!
